Grief is very much like love: We experience, express and process it in such a unique way. Yet in those differences, we also find similarities that we can all relate to.
Social media gives this impression that people’s lives – mine included, are like perfect postcards admired with “#TravelGoals” and “#HowToBeYou” sentiments.
It isn’t called, “rough draft” for nothing as what you see are the highlights.
In today’s video, I share what really goes on behind the scenes.
I have learned the hard way that ironically, in vulnerability we find strength, just as I have in “Surviving the 5 Stages of Grief.”
This VLOG has pushed me galaxies beyond my comfort zone. It has made me tear down walls I never knew existed. Stripped down to emotional nakedness, I share this extremely personal post on the ramblings of my sorrow, my grief, my broken heart of losing my only brother, Miko.
Yes I am aware that a broken heart heals with God-given time, with prayers of hope for happier days, with sincere words from a friend or a stranger and with solace knowing you are not alone.
However, until that day comes, know that if you’re reading this and are going through the motions of pain and loss, you are allowed to fall apart. You are allowed to be an emotional mess. You are allowed to not have it all figured out. You are allowed to feel broken.
My dearest, honor your feelings. You are neglecting your own path to healing by suppressing something that must naturally be released. You may hide them so well now but trust that suppressed emotions will retaliate as it reemerges in ways inconceivable and destructible.
Please, do your precious soul a favor by holding its hand and allowing yourself to feel every emotion, no matter the discomfort, the heaviness and burden.
Unless you acknowledge the presence of anything, you cannot drive it away. So I encourage you, no matter how uncomfortable it may be, face the fear, the pain, the anger. Because only then can you face a new day filled with hope and renewed happiness.
Do you know what are the five stages of grief? What stage are you at right now? Where am I? Watch and let’s explore them together.
Love and light,
B
