Confidence is very much like money: how little or how much of it you have, determines how you get by in life.
The same way money needs to be earned, managed, saved or spent, self-confidence applies the same dynamics: It doesn’t grow on trees or appear at a drop of a hat. It is something that is built through time and if managed in a healthy way, it can take you places, literally and figuratively.
It took me so long to launch this website. Two years to be exact. Even if the passion was there, I didn’t have enough confidence to fuel the fire. Then when it finally happened, ironically, it too has given me much confidence from the support I’ve received from you guys.
Then as the months passed with the steady release of weekly content or episodes, I continue to grow, to evolve and to push myself beyond my own comfort zone. It is humbling yet uplifting.
Today’s episode is dedicated to you, that person who needs that boost, that nudge when you’ve lost faith in yourself or lost your way in the middle of it all.
While it is aspirational for us to believe in ourselves, hence self-confidence, people believing in us is a great catalyst for positive change.
That is where I come in.
I don’t know you but I do know we are more similar than we are different: we both want to be happy.
Whatever your definition of happiness is, bottom line, it is a life filled with love, support, meaning and success.
As I shared on Instagram how I was bullied for many years during my adolescence, it took me many years to get to this point.
It was actually the driving force to go to make-up school in Los Angeles then write a book in 2011, which had become a bestseller.
I just knew I wanted to help people.
Making people feel beautiful was one way. Now, I’ve added encouraging others to travel literally and figuratively in this journey we call life as well.
I hope to impart things I’ve learned along the way and been proven to be effective in building self-esteem. These I find are the easiest and most basic. Think of this as your starter kit!
When you’ve mastered these, expect that your goals for yourself will only become higher and harder, which are signs of success!
