The explosion of K-Pop all over world opened the doors of fascination with South Korea. From food, soap operas to skincare, tourists have so much reasons to explore this beautiful country.
I actually have South Korea to thank for learning my now, holy grail of beauty regimens (don’t worry I have a whole other episode just for that).
While Seoul is the obvious choice when visiting South Korea especially for the first time, today’s episode is showing you the sights beyond the capital city.
Seoul is the largest city and capital of South Korea. As they say, it is the Seoul of the country.
The bustling metropolis attracts endless amounts of tourists. For starters, certain shopping malls like the area of Dongdaemun, are open until 5am!
Then of course there is the famous Insadong, a long street filled with local artisan stores, quaint art galleries, cafes and souvenir shops.
Pardon the comparison but I am trying to make it relatable: as Kyoto is to Japan, Gyeongju is to South Korea. The beginnings of both countries started in these cities before the capitals became Tokyo and Seoul, respectively.
With so much history from the 1000-Silla Dynasty alone, there’s much to discover and experience from this ancient city.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Hahoe Folk Village in South Korea gives you a glimpse into a the past with a Korean traditional village.
The second largest city and personally my favorite, Busan offers the best of all: shopping, beaches, food joints, culture and so much more.
Jeju Island is a 20 minute ferry ride away from Busan, South Korea. With 10-12 Unesco World Heritage Sites to explore, it is a nature lover’s paradise.
As a frequent getaway or retirement destination by South Koreans and celebrities, a trip to Jeju Island is a perfect way to take a break from the busy city life.
Have you seen my episode on Jeju Island? You’ll be amazed at what your body can do in the name of travel & adventure.
The industrial port of Incheon is the financial district/city of South Korea.
This is my last stop before heading back to Manila. Whether you’re there for business or not, rest assured the shopping choices like the Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo are worth a visit!
Make sure to watch today’s episode to see the highlights of South Korea! I can’t wait to go back! Do you have any recommendations for me? Would love to know where else to eat and visit next time!
Love & light,
B
