It’s called the digital world for a reason: it is not of the Earth. Iceland on the other hand, is a postcard of this planet: pure, untouched (yet) and magical.
The growing tourism in Iceland is proof that man is longing for nature’s bounty as it has now become scarce.
It is almost as if globalization has become a curse.
Corporations prioritizing profit over protecting the planet – the only one we call home.
Imagine coming across a truly special place that’s unknown. You almost want to keep it a secret for the fear of commercialization right? We all know, once the Starbucks’ and McDonalds’ have hit its shores, it’s downhill from there.
That’s how I feel about Iceland.
Mind you, it wasn’t even when I finally bathed in the country’s wanderlust claim to fame, the Blue Lagoon.
Of course it was spectacular. Of course it was unreal: swimming in hot springs while surrounded by snow-capped mountains in the middle of the Northern Hemisphere!
You would think it was when I nearly lost my mind, crying from tears of joy during the Game of Thrones: Revisited Tour. The epic tour that took us to several film locations in Iceland with the helpful guidance from The Mountain, who happens to be Icelandic.
Actually, it was only when I had gone on a road trip to the South Coast of Iceland.
Between standing in front of double rainbows to blissfully chasing waterfalls after another or fearlessly standing on the edge of a cliff overlooking a black-sanded beach, it was pure magic.
No spells, potions or captions needed – just Nature being itself.
I am torn because how would I ever have known all this unless I were a tourist eating off the commercial pie? How would I have discovered this Scandinavian volcanic island had I not set foot in what I consider to be one of the most beautiful places on Earth?
The whole point of this website is to peak your curiosity for traveling. With that, a big part of me wants you to see Iceland with your own eyes! The magnificent beauty of mountains, glaciers, desert, pristine crystal waters and the purest air are the food for one’s soul.
Yet the other part of me wants to leave Iceland alone. I want nothing more than to protect her sanctity from poisonous, commercial wolves.
Where does it end? Where does it begin?
Today’s episode aims to spark a fire within you to help save our planet – our home.
It’s ironic I say this because Mother Nature doesn’t need us to move on. She actually doesn’t need our help. She will continue to evolve as she always has.
So let me rephrase:
We are the ones who need help! We are the ones who needs saving if we want to continue living on this planet.
So as I write this, I realize you – we can do both: discover and protect.
If you love a flower, don’t pick it up. If you pick it up, it dies and it ceases to be what you love. So if you love a flower, let it be. Love is not about possession. Love is about appreciation.

If only this were just some Hollywood end-of-the-world flick like Armageddon or Interstellar. Sadly, this is not a rehearsal or a screenplay. This is real life.

Let’s not wait for another Earth Day to come before we give a shit about this planet. Everyday is an Earth day.
Everyday we get another chance to create change: change ourselves, our mindset, our attitudes, our priorities. Only then can we change the world. It all starts with us.
